The mayor is uneducated and unqualifed for the job.
If we put some money into our schools and built up our school system, more families will want to live here. Which in turn will bring business. Which equals success.

No I don't think it's all the Mayor's fault. I believe we have and had too many people in politics in Fitchburg, who are not qualified. If they were, we would through out the years, been able to have a better City Goverment. The budget process is out dated. Who ever set up a budget, before knowing how much Income. Who ever gave raises before knowing the bottom line? It's all been said, but changes are not coming, once the budget is in,it's wait till next year and so on.

Thanks to Standard and Poors, we now have the true financial status of the city, instead of Mylott's fictional version he would like everyone to believe.

If this report was of a private company, the top brass of the company would be the first to go, including the CEO and the CFO. In our case it would be the Mayor and the City Auditor.

Of course the Mayor is accountable for the oversight of the total city, and his tenure in that office can't come to an end quickly enough.

But the City Auditor, who seems to be the "Harry Houdini" of accountability every time a crisis or scandal occurs, should be held accountable as well.

In just the past three years, there have been two departments who have had money stolen and the checks and balances in these situations were proven lacking. Where was his accountability in all of this? There was also another scandal about ten years ago with missing money from one of the city's deputy collectors that occurred under his watch. How many more times do we have to watch our taxpayer's money go missing before we turn the focus onto his performance?

Also, his inability to accurately estimate city revenues should be questioned. He gets paid almost $100,000 and has been in that position for many years. It is not acceptable for the taxpayers to accept Mylott's recent excuse that the "financial staff" needs training from the DOR to do their jobs.

It's time for the voters to elect a Mayor who is accountable and who has the courage to hold the highly paid employees of this city accountable for the salaries paid out by our taxpayers.

Mylott has proven he has neither.

Mayor Mylott is certainly to blame. He is uneducated and is not qualified for the job. Fitchburg needs a city manager. We don't need a mayor. If Fitchburg spent money on education, more people would want to live here. Which in turn brings business to an area. Which makes a city successful.

Years ago, Police, Fire & Teachers earned much less than their counterparts in industry. They also received great benefits, early retirements, vacations, sick days, comp time, educational assistance, and 15-18 holidays a year. Taxpayers didn't mind because it kind of evened out. Today, these people are demanding and receiving 50, 60 & 70,000 dollars a year WITH the same benefits. Add 35% benefit rate to $70K and it costs the taxpayer $94,500 for a teacher working 1,260 hours a year, or about $75 an hour. In Leominster, Firefighters make $60,000 to work 2 days a week and 16 hours of those 2 days is spent sleeping at the station. At just 3-1/2 to 4-1/2% inflation adjusted, 10 years from now it will cost $125,000 for one Teacher with Masters+. Do the math people; Fitchburg will tax it’s residents into poverty just to keep city services. Mayor Mylott lacks the courage and conviction to address these tough issues. Leominster is just as bad. They won't mess with that strong a political block so it’s only going to get worse. Just hang onto your wallets, cause here they come…..

I'm not a Mylott fan but it takes more than 1 to ruin the budgit.

I think Mylott has turned a blind eye to everything. We haven't had a treasurer since September. The assistant aditor has been out since November and the acting treasure has quit. That means no treasurer, no assistant treasurer and no assistant auditor. What's happening to our city. Who's running the show? Who's cutting the checks? Know one cares. I'm tired of listening to Mylott say everything is beautiful. I predict that we go belly up by June. YES MYLOTTS TO BLAME!!

Mylott and dumb dumb Dick Sarason. They missed Bruce Richards stealing from the treasurers office and the airport fiasco. Thats two that we know under there watch. THAT WE KNOW!!!
